This is a participative and fun session where we will explore the barriers to people joining and actively participating in community groups, and how to reduce them.

We will cover:

  • How to engage new people
  • How to ensure everyone can have a say in a group
  • Some constructive ways to manage conflict 

About the Trainer

Sally Deith is a trainer specialising in the skills which community groups and voluntary organisations need to grow, including community development and funding skills. She started her working life supporting homeless people, and remains committed to valuing people equally and helping their voices to be heard. She aims to create a relaxed atmosphere in her sessions where participants can feel confident to share their experiences and ideas - and enjoy themselves!

This workshop is number 3 in a series of 4 free workshops developed by Leeds 2023 and Voluntary Action Leeds. These workshops are designed to help you kickstart your arts organisation and access funding or find out how you can use arts and culture to develop your organisation and achieve your goals.
