Support to Leeds based organisations to apply to the Disabled People's Organisations Covid-19 Emergency Fund
Date: 29th September
Time: 1.30-3.00pm
Description
The Disabled Peoples Organisation Covid-19 Emergency Fund will provide grants of £1,000 – £25,000 to support DPO’s to respond directly to the needs arising from the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic in the areas of:
- Independent living: covering any COVID-19 related issues affecting disabled people’s choice and control over their lives.
- Isolation: covering work to tackle isolation, such as providing IT equipment and support so people can access on-line support or setting up and running peer support networks.
- Income: covering work to support disabled people to access benefits and entitlements and manage debt issues
The fund will be able to pay for equipment, running and staffing costs as well as covering a full cost recovery model over the period 1/11/20 – 30/6/21
Any DPO in the UK can apply if at least 51% of their governing body or management committee are made up of disabled people and they have a constitution/governing document that shows their organisation is set up to support disabled people and/or advance disabled people’s equality and inclusion. The deadline for applications is 5 October 2020 (18 September for Deaf BSL organisations and Learning Disability organisations who require accessible versions of fund guidance).
This interactive zoom session will be led by Joyce Anderson from Equality Together, the West and North Yorkshire regional partner organisation providing information and advice to organisations considering applying and facilitated by Kaye Wilson (VAL Project Worker). Attendees will be taken through the criteria to check eligibility to the fund and the application form where we will cover the main points to include in your bid and discuss any questions you have about applying to the fund.
The session will help you to:
- Check eligibility to the fund
- Know what kinds of projects/activities/costs the fund will cover
- Be aware of what the funder wants to know about your organisation, project and budget (key application form questions)
- Have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about applying and to get further support from Equality Together
Before the session it would be useful if you could have a look at the on-line application available at: https://disabilityaction.flexigrant.com/areadetail.aspx and the funds guidelines available at https://doinggoodleeds.org.uk/news/2020/09/15/disabled-peoples-organisations-covid-19-emergency-fund-202009151550/
