For people who work alone with service users, in their homes, in hostels or out in the community.

Course Description

People who meet or work alone with service users need a set of additional and well-developed skills to stay safe and handle difficult situations. Using quizzes, case studies and discussion, this course will ensure that staff members who work in this challenging environment know how to think through situations that migh present a risk, recognise the signs of rising tension and what to do, and are able to maintain professional boundaries and behaviour in trying circumstances.

Learning Outcomes

You will discover:

  • Principles of Professional Boundaries and why they are important.
  • Straightforward ways to stay safe when working alone.
  • What to do when a situation becomes unexpectedly difficult
  • How to handle challenges to you and your role.
