White Rose Concert Band

Organisation Aims and Activities: First and foremost a community ensemble, the band consists of woodwind, brass and percussion players of a range of ages (16yrs+). The emphasis is on music and friendship, while challenging everyone to perform to the highest standard under the baton of Musical Director, Ben Tierney. Performances are held at a variety of venues throughout the year, including outdoor venues across the district in the summer months. The band regularly takes part in competitive festivals and has gained Gold and Silver Awards at national level. There is also a Training Band which provides an opportunity for players with basic instrumental skills to play music with others under the direction of a conductor. Funding is mainly obtained from subscriptions and concerts. The band is a member of BASBWE (British Association of Bands and Wind Ensembles.)
