Roundhay Planning Forum

Organisation Aims and Activities: Roundhay Planning Forum is a group of residents of Roundhay Ward which has the primary objective of producing a Neighbourhood Design Statement (NDS) for the Ward which can be adopted by LCC as a Supplementary Planning Document for the area. Design Statements set out not to resolve individual specific planning problems of residents but rather to set down principles for the guidance of developers and planners. Our NDS will be based on the views of residents, visitors to, and workers in the Ward. Such views will be ascertained at public meetings, workshops and exhibitions. It will provide important guidance for those initiating or deciding on development proposals. Its founding members from Roundhay were united by a feeling that residents would be better able to influence decisions on planning if the good and bad characteristics of their neighbourhoods were collectively agreed by most residents and recognised formally by the LCC.
