New World Steel Orchestra

Organisation Aims and Activities: New World Steel Orchestra was re-launched in 2004 to promote and inspire young people to learn the art of steel pan, at a performance and professional level. Each session combines practical music tuition and rehearsal time with a youth programme in which young people learn important skills such as teamwork, discipline, self-confidence and commitment. NWSO is about developing the whole child: the ethos of "Each one, teach one" & working together creates a unique and challenging program. To date we have three young orchestras (5-21) who have performed at many prestigious events including, HRH Princess Royal, Carnival Messiah @ Harewood House, Black Police Association's annual dinner/conference, (headline act) Summertyne festival @ The Sage - Gateshead, Carnivals nationwide, York Minster . New World Steel Orchestra is a charity running entirely on the generosity and dedication of the Management Team, and the volunteers who dedicate there free time each and every week.
