Mary's Meals

Organisation Aims and Activities: The idea of Mary?s Meals is very simple. We feed children a daily meal in their place of education. This encourages children to come to school and receive their education which is so vital to their hopes for the future. Many children in the developing world don?t go to school because they have to work to find food. By giving these vulnerable children a daily meal, we are helping break the cycle of poverty and giving them hope. We started in Malawi in 2002 feeding 200 children in a small primary school. Thanks to the unbelievable generosity of our supporters, we are now feeding more than 1.2 million hungry children EVERY school day in their place of education in 14 of the world?s poorest countries. On average it costs just ?13.90 to feed a child with a meal every school day for a year, and thanks to most of our work being carried out by volunteers, at least 93p of every ?1 donated is spent directly on our charitable activities.
