Organisation Aims and Activities: The Chippendale Society is devoted to the appreciation of the work of the furniture maker Thomas Chippendale. The Society was founded in 1965 in Otley, Chippendale's home town. It's aims are: 1. To advance public education and to promote the appreciation and study of the work of Thomas Chippendale senior and junior. 2. To acquire, preserve and maintain examples of his work for the benefit of the nation. A substantial proportion of the Society's membership live in Otley or Wharfedale (Thomas Chippendale's birthplace). For more information about the Society's activities, please consult the website.
