Wyke Beck Way Community Forum

Organisation Aims and Activities: A community based organisation, registered charity, concerned with issues of sustainabilty relative to protecting and improving the Wyke Beck Valley green space corridor from Roundhay to Rothwell. The City Council supports the Forum in gathering information towards the preparation a community plan for the Valley which could form the basis of a Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) document, to ensure due consideration in the face of development pressures and support the establishment of an major Urban Green Space Park for east and south east Leeds. Information is being gathered by five task groups comprising members and local agencies, vis: Ecology, Landscape, Connectivity, Flood Alleviation and Young Persons' groups. The Forum has successfully taken a community lead in applying for grant funding towards its objectives in association with local agencies such as Groundwork Leeds and Leeds City Council's Regeneration Services.
Open Hours: The Forum's activities are presently coordinated by a 'Centre Manager' and 'Project Manager', volunteers, based at the 'Valley Pride' Centre in the northern part of the valley.
