Hooner Kelah Training Project

Organisation Aims and Activities: Hooner Kelah was established in 1985, to address the multiple disadvantages faced by Asian women who wish to enter the labour market. The project particularly targets women who experience multiple deprivation, in particular women with language, literacy, numeracy, IT, basic skills needs. It also supports women who need intense support prior to entering into employment or further education. Many of Hooner Kelah's beneficiaries have had little or no experience of training or education, for some women this is the first independent step taken outside of their home. This is particularly the case amongst women who have migrated to England and have no real experience and understanding of the infra-structure of living in this country. Therefore they need a lot of guidance and support in integrating into the wider community.
