SCARD. (Support and Care after Road Death and Injury)

Organisation Aims and Activities: Helpline and support group for all persons affected by road crashes. Oral support (through helpline), peer support (through group meetings). Free initial legal support and advice from personal injury solicitors. Mediation i.e. between victim and police (sometimes necessary), accompanying victims to court, inquests, etc. Free complimentary membership for 12 months. Newsletters as necessary. Free information, posters etc. on all road safety issues. Assistance in accessing counselling within and outside the organisation (2 qualified counsellors offering free counselling - telephone or one-to-one). Meetings - Last Saturday every other month - Jan, March, etc. at Kirklees Road Safety Unit, Flint St, Fartown, Huddersfield, HD1 6LF: Committee and Trustees at 1.00pm, bereaved and injured at 3.00pm.
