Sylvia Wright Trust
Organisation Aims and Activities: The SWT is a registered charity which supports the work of Sylvia Wright among the sick and disabled in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Sylvia sold her home and possessions in Leeds over 30 years ago to work in this very poor area of India. Over the years, Sylvia has built and established a modern hospital, a school for deaf children, two centres for severely disabled children as well as running vital community health projects. She opened a Nursing College in 2009 with an intake of 20 students a year. The Trust comprises enthusiastic and committed volunteers who raise funds to support this work. There are no paid staff and 97p in every ?1 raised goes to support Sylvia's projects. Our website summarises the work that is going on and invites support. The SWT is founded on Christian principles and is supported by people of many different faiths. Sylvia's school, hospital, day centres and Nursing College in India are open to people of all faiths according to their needs
