Sunshine and Smiles

Sunshine and Smiles is a support network for children and young people who have Down Syndrome and their families in Leeds. We provide support to families through the provision of a range of fun and therapeutic activities such as regular groups and trips, support and befriending to parents with a new baby, advice around additional challenges such as heart defects, feeding difficulties and other health issues.

Support After Murder and Manslaughter

SAMM offers understanding and support to families and friends who have been bereaved as a result of murder and manslaughter, through the mutual support of others who have suffered a similar tragedy.

Supporting Others Through Volunteer Action (ISB Bail Support Scheme)

SOVA volunteer's mentor adult defendants as part of a structured bail support scheme, providing practical support in the local community to assist in their compliance with the scheme. SOVA volunteers can help defendants with various tasks, including attending appointments and court, accessing training, education or employment, sorting finances and other practical and emotional support. Volunteers can volunteer at times most convenient to them, but are expected to offer a minimum of 2 hours commitment per week. Mentoring takes place within Leeds.

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS)

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide supports those who are left behind following the suicide of a family member or friend. We offer a national helpline 9am-9pm, every day of the year on 0300 111 5065. We offer local groups around the country. The nearest to Leeds is the Bradford Group, which welcomes people from all areas of West Yorkshire, including Leeds. We also offer support days and residential retreats at several venues around the country.

Survivors West Yorkshire

Survivors West Yorkshire (SWY) is a survivor led and focused service for male survivors of sexual violence, including childhood sexual abuse. Our accredited service offers “Ben’s Place” online counselling, emotional support, and information signposting. Our objective is to innovatively support the self-empowerment of adult survivors of sexual violence/abuse by developing robustly evaluated psychological interventions.

Swarcliffe and St Gregory's Community Playscheme

We offer quality holiday play provision for children under 12 who live or attend settings within the East of Leeds at a price that is within the financial restraints of local families, providing activities that help children develop personal social skills within a safe, caring and fun atmosphere that allows children to take appropriate risks within their play. We also train and support local volunteers to be able to work with local children

Swarcliffe Baptist Church

We are an Evangelical Christian Church in the Baptist tradition. Our building is on Swarcliffe Drive opposite Swarcliffe School. We welcome and invite you and your family to our services and/or activities.

Swarcliffe Good Neighbours Scheme

Drop-In Advice and Information regarding issues relevant to older people and their carers. Specifically we provide - Luncheon club on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; Bereavement group; Befriending scheme; Pensioners' group; Intergenerational Work; Gardening Scheme; Painting and Decorating Scheme; DIY Scheme; Bogus Caller Initiative; Friendship Group; Advocacy and Volunteer Support.

Swarthmore Education Centre

Friendly learning opportunities for adults in Leeds. Courses run at different times of the day and in different subject areas including arts, maths, English, healthy living and computing. Swarthmore also offers the National Career Service free to people over 19.

Swillington Pre-school Playgroup

Providing pre-school education and activities for the local community.

Swinnow Community Centre

To provide a space for all ages and abilities to enjoy. Providing activities, events and a space where fun, learning and enjoyment can happen. We have craft groups, coffee mornings, Street dance for children, fitness classes for adults, bingo, gardening groups, baby and toddler groups, table top sales. These all happen regularly. We then have one-off events such as singers, race nights, fun days, etc.

Sydney Bridge Ltd

Sydney Bridge is a recycling organisation that collects unwanted home furniture from homes around Leeds and redistributes it to disadvantaged people. The company achieves zero landfill, creates volunteer opportunity for disadvantaged people helping them to achieve skills and work experience while helping them to boost their confidence and move on into mainstream employment.

Sylvia Wright Trust

The SWT is a registered charity which supports the work of Sylvia Wright among the sick and disabled in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Sylvia sold her home and possessions in Leeds over 30 years ago to work in this very poor area of India. Over the years, Sylvia has built and established a modern hospital, a school for deaf children, two centres for severely disabled children as well as running vital community health projects. She opened a Nursing College in 2009 with an intake of 20 students a year. The Trust comprises enthusiastic and committed volunteers who raise funds to support this work. There are no paid staff and 97p in every ?1 raised goes to support Sylvia's projects. Our website summarises the work that is going on and invites support. The SWT is founded on Christian principles and is supported by people of many different faiths. Sylvia's school, hospital, day centres and Nursing College in India are open to people of all faiths according to their needs

Tangram Housing Co-Operative Ltd

Tangram Housing co-operative is a self-governing organisation which aims to provide a safe and acceptable living environment for adults and children who are in housing need and who would benefit from support from our community. The co-operative has 40 housing units with a diverse community of families, single people, ethnic minorities and disabled people, and is committed to equal opportunities. It is based in Harehills.

Tempus Novo (meaning New Time)

Tempusnovo aims to improve the lives of ex-offenders leaving HMP Leeds by preparing them for work, helping them secure and retain work and to begin to build real careers. Our objective is to challenge conventional models of tackling re-offending and rehabilitation by: Identifying offenders whilst in custody who want to change their lives; Helping them to face up to the challenge of changing, through a bespoke mentoring service which starts up to 3 months before release and continues for up to 18 months after release; Co-ordinating all other support services in a meaningful and timely fashion; Helping secure full time paid employment for those ex-offenders who we believe will make hard working, loyal employees.

The Beck

The Beck delivers a range of services to young people (aged 13 to 19) and their parents and families, including intensive one-to-one support, group work, offsite education, sports activities, parent/carer support, counselling and much more. Services are delivered from our centre in Killingbeck (near Asda) and on an outreach basis in schools and a range of community settings in East Leeds.

The BLAST Project (part of Yorkshire MESMAC Group of Services) is the UK?s leading male only sexual exploitation service supporting and working solely with boys and young men who have experienced, are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing child sexual exploitation (CSE). We work towards providing equality, access, support and information to boys and young men who have been, are being or are at risk of being sexually exploited. Primary services: one to one support for boys and young men; Group work in educational and youth settings; Presentations and professional training; Provision of resources. Main client groups: Boys and young men aged 25 and under who have been sexually exploited, are being sexually exploited or are at risk of being sexually exploited. Face to face support is available for boys and young men in Leeds and Bradford. Other services are available nationally.
