Wednesday Afternoon Group

Luncheon club, mainly for the older folk although we also cater for people with a handicap. We are run by volunteers. Lunches are cooked on the premises and consist of a main meal and a pudding, followed by entertainment,domino's, videos and speakers now and then. this is every other week and we keep the price as low as possible because this is looked on by the church as an outreach organisation, we don't pay rent for the room but we do insist on giving a donation every month towards the gas and electricity. We have fourty members and they are brought to the hall by the community bus.

Wellington Hill Residents' Association

The objectives of the Association are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Wellington Hill area of Leeds and the neighbourhood, and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure activities to members, for example Drama group, Junior Showgroup, Playgroup, Aikido, Art, Bridge, Camera group, Sequence Dancing, Scottish Dancing, Rambling. To maintain and manage the Community Centre in furtherance of these objectives. To carry out the above within the guidelines set out in the constitution.

Welsh Society

For friendship and social and cultural matters in liaison with other Welsh societies across Yorkshire and northern England as well as links with Wales and Welsh societies across the world.

West Indian Family Counselling Service

WIFCOS respond to the needs of the Caribbean community and other black and ethnic minority people in Leeds 7, 8 and 9. The Project is part of the mission of Roscoe Methodist Church to work for justice and wholeness for all, addressing some of the persistent problems people face e.g. loneliness, coping with health issues, personal and family stresses,continuing unemployment and racism. This is achieved through a Lunch Club that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays and a confidential support and Counselling for individuals and families.

West Leeds District Scout Council

Scouting offers fun, friendship, games, crafts and adventurous activities for ages 6 - 25. The aim of the Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

West Park United Reformed Church

We are a group of Christians within The United Reform Church. Our Sunday Services are suitable for all ages and you will receive a warm and friendly welcome.Various week day activities include karate, aerobics, and toddler group.

West Riding Opera produce an opera every April, fully staged and costumed, with full orchestra.

West Yorkshire Community Chaplaincy Proje

WYCCP is a resettlement organisation which aims to reduce re-offending and contribute to building safer and stronger communities in Leeds and across West Yorkshire. A ?through the gate? project; we work with offenders inside the prison, post release and their families. Staff and volunteers provide practical support and encouragement to men to help them cope with life in the community and break the cycle of re-offending.

West Yorkshire Ecumenical Council

The members of the West Yorkshire Ecumenical Council are the church leaders and ecumenical officers of ten denominations; they are committed to deepen their communion with with Christ and with one another in the Church to fulfil their mission to proclaim the gospel by common witness and service in the world.

Family Mediation for parents and couples who are separating or divorcing, or have already done so. Providing help to sort out practical matters including arrangments for children, maintenance agreements, property and finances where there is disagreement, differences. An alternative to litigation and the courts system - less costly, less adversarial. Legal aid available for those eligible.

West Yorkshire Federation of Women's Institutes Ltd

The Federation runs day-schools, workshops and courses in all aspects of home economics, arts and leisure activities, public affairs, issues on a local national and international level.The West Yorkshire area is serviced by 69 local homes institutes who meet on a monthly basis.Contact the organisation for details of local groups. The organisation is an educational charity for women.

West Yorkshire Learning Consortium

WYLC's aim is to advance the education of people in West Yorkshire. We do this by: Organising a representative forum for Community and Voluntary organisations involved with both providing and receiving education; Facilitating an effective dialogue between the C&V sectors and the West Yorkshire Learning & Skills Council; Encouraging collaboration between C&V organisations on issues of learning & skills development; Providing information to C&V organisations on issues of learning & skills development. The Consortium is a resource for the membership assimilating and disseminating information, strategic planning, partnership working, sign posting, skills and resource share. Membership of the WYLC is open to C&V sector organisations who must have either a voluntary Management Committee or voluntary Board of Directors/Trustees.

West Yorkshire National Trust Volunteers

Independent group of conservation volunteers working on National Trust properties in West and North Yorkshire. Tree-planting, path repairs, fencing, drystone walling, etc. Also active programme of social events, walks, etc. Tasks normally on a Sunday, every two to three weeks at National Trust properties. Also weekend tasks.

West Yorkshire Playhouse - Heydays

For people over 55 with the aim of presenting an opportunity for older people to meet, develop their creative skills and share them with others, to take part in the activities and to benefit from special offers. Activities include Dance, Music, Drama and Playreading, Creative Writing and a variety of Arts and Crafts. Meetings are held every Wednesday with breaks at Christmas, Easter and during the Summer.

West Yorkshire School Of Christian Studies

WYSOCS provides opportunities for learning, for adults, in a wide range of subjects from Christian perspective. Lectures and courses and fundraiser - social events are advertised on the website and all are welcome to register/come along as indicated. Reality Bites is the national training ministry of the WYSOCS. It provides training for youth workers, school workers and all those involved in mission and education.

Weston Estate Friendship Club

We aim to share fellowship and maintain dignity for older people. Local charities have over the years benefited from our commitment of a third of our income. We have a yearly fellowship holiday. We provide transport for those unable to get to meetings.

Wetherby and District Camera Club

A long established photographic society with the principal aim of helping all members enjoy their photography by giving them opportunities to acquire skills and techniques which will assist them in improving their image making. Membership is around 35 - 40 and most members are very active both in the club and in photography more widely. Meetings are supported by the club's own equipment which includes a fixed screen, slide projectors, a laptop with relevant software (including Photoshop CS2), and a digital projector. Our membership includes photographers of wide ranging skills and experience and there are those involved in both digital and film photography. All are very ready to offer advice and help on the use of a camera and image editing software in order to help improve your own photography.

Wetherby and District Crime Prevention Panel

A group of volunteers working together with support from the Police to distribute crime prevention literature and products in order to educate the public and community to be more vigilant and security conscious. It is thought that by taking simple security measures more than half of the recorded crime could be prevented. Unfortunately we no longer live in an environment where we can leave doors and windows unlocked whilst out.

Wetherby Arts Festival Association

Arts Festival with a biennial cycle providing a varied programme both professional and amateur events.

Wetherby Bridge Club Limited

Provision of comfortable facilities for duplicate bridge players. The club is affiliated to the English Bridge Union. Meetings are held most evenings, but only limited space for visitors on Tuesdays. Monday to Saturday visitors are very welcome. Wednesday afternoons, visitors welcome. Anyone interested in playing should contact the organiser first. The club also organises bridge classes for 'beginners' and 'improvers' - commencing September (annually) - contact the secretary for details.

Wetherby Civic Society was founded with aims and objectives of : promoting civic pride and high standards of architecture and town planning; encouraging Improvements in public amenities; influencing the development of the built environment and the culture of the town.

Wetherby Community Radio (Tempo FM)

Tempo FM is a Community Radio Station which aims to help Local Organisations, Charities and groups, by providing publicity for their events and to help local businesses with very cheap, but effective, advertising. We are licenced and regulated by Ofcom under the Community Radio Order 2004 and are a 'Not for Profit' organisation, run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of the community.
