Woodcraft Folk

The Woodcraft Folk is an educational movement for children and young people, designed to develop self-confidence and activity in society, with the aim of building a world based on equality, friendship, peace and cooperation. Activities include children's weekly group sessions and camping.

Woodhouse Ridge Action Group (WRAG)

To protect, conserve enhance and maintain Woodhouse Ridge and help improve the facilities and resources.

Woodkirk St Mary's Playgroup

As an OFSTED inspected setting we provide a safe and happy environment for children aged 2 - 4 years old where they can learn and develop through play under the supervision of qualified and experienced staff. We cover the key areas of learning and early learning goals for the foundation stage and help make the transition to nursery and school a smooth one. Also: Mum and Tots - a chance to meet other mums in a relaxed setting where the children play safely - meet Wednesday 9.30am - 11.00am (term times only).

Woodlands Community Garden

We have a community garden that we are opening up to community groups on Monday mornings - but more often if there's a need. It is a place to meet and chat, grow crops and share experiences with young and old. Groups need to book in advance please.

Woodside Methodist Church

Woodside Methodist Church is a caring friendly church that meets for fellowship and worship. All ages are welcome.

Workers' Educational Association

The WEA is a national adult education provider that operates regionally. We are a charity, publically funded and ofsteded on a regular basis. We also work with groups and organisations that receive funding for specific educational projects. We run accredited and non-accredited courses for 16+ irrespective of age, gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity and religion, including adults with mental health problems, physical disabilities, and / or learning difficulties. Some courses for the general public are advertised in our brochure and website, however, some are discrete courses requested by community agents or groups, including Trade Unions. All our courses are run in a wide variety of local community venues including schools and centres.

Wrangthorn Baby & Toddler Group

Lots of fun stuff to do, craft activities, bikes, climbing frame, cars, trains, home corner, farm/dinosaurs etc etc. ?1 per adult includes drinks and snacks. Lots of Mum's, Dad's and Grandparents so bound to be someone to chat to.

WYCAS

WYCAS' overall aim is to develop the ability of voluntary and community sector organisations with charitable aims to manage their money more efficiently and effectively, enabling those organisations to better attain the objectives that they were set up to achieve. WYCAS is a small charitable company operating mainly though not exclusively in West Yorkshire and provides a dedicated advice line, one to one training, training courses, a range of Good Practice Guides, regular Newsletters as well as preparing and independently examining annual accounts.

Wyke Beck Way Community Forum

A community based organisation, registered charity, concerned with issues of sustainabilty relative to protecting and improving the Wyke Beck Valley green space corridor from Roundhay to Rothwell. The City Council supports the Forum in gathering information towards the preparation a community plan for the Valley which could form the basis of a Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) document, to ensure due consideration in the face of development pressures and support the establishment of an major Urban Green Space Park for east and south east Leeds. Information is being gathered by five task groups comprising members and local agencies, vis: Ecology, Landscape, Connectivity, Flood Alleviation and Young Persons' groups. The Forum has successfully taken a community lead in applying for grant funding towards its objectives in association with local agencies such as Groundwork Leeds and Leeds City Council's Regeneration Services.

XL-Mentoring

To pair trained volunteer mentors with young people (aged 10-16) who need help realising their potential. ? To aid young people to improve relationships with family, peers, teachers and others in the community. ? To help young people to have better chances in life. ? To develop in young people the ideas of self-help and self-responsibility ? To expound and use diversionary activities, projects that raise aspirations or reduce isolation ? To help to advance crime reduction thus creating a safer society

Yeadon Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society

Our goal is to produce top quality amateur musicals, reviews and plays and to donate to charities.

Yeadon and District Male Voice Choir

The Choir will hold concerts, some social events and entertain at local residential care homes.

Yeadon Charities Association

Yeadon Charities Association raises funds for: 1 An annual outing with meals for local senior citizens, 65 years of age or over, who have lived in the Yeadon area for a minimum of one year; 2 The relief or support of needy persons particularly the aged and infirmed residing in Yeadon area. N.B. The Association operates within the boundaries of the area or township known as Yeadon, in the borough of Aireborough in the City of Leeds.

Yeadon Methodist Church

We are a group of Christians of all ages and backgrounds who meet regularly for worship and fellowship and try to live out our Christian faith in our daily lives. There are many groups for both children and adults that meet regularly during the week.The Ladies Guild meets every Monday evening (except Bank Holidays). The men of the church and others locally who care to join us meet with them on the first Monday of the month when this joint meeting is called 'The Monday Guild'.

York Housing Association

York Housing Association provides a range of housing and support services to over 600 households in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. We have a small estate in Rothwell which provides accommodation for single people, couples and families plus sheltered accommodation for people over the age of 55.

Yorkshire Agricultural Society

For more than 150 years, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a charity that exists to promote farming and the countryside, has helped support those living and working in rural areas, assisting progress whilst never losing sight of the value of our heritage. Every year it gives away more than 1m to help agriculture through grants to fund agricultural research, sponsoring of farming projects, running the Farming Enterprise Awards, supporting numerous charities and organisations, running an education programme to improve understanding of rural matters and disseminating information by organising key conferences, seminars and competitions. The Yorkshire Agricultural Society also organises and hosts the annual Great Yorkshire Show and Countryside Live, which both take place on the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate. Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent Charity providing a life saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across Yorkshire. We fly seven days a week, 365 days a year, covering a vast landscape that not only includes major cities and motor ways, but also rural and isolated locations.

Yorkshire Animal Shelter

We are a small rescue and rehoming centre for stray, abandoned, sick, injured or unwanted animals, dealing with all animals except dogs. All our animals are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to rehoming. We currently have cats and guinea pigs for rehoming and a horse, a pig, 4 sheep and 2 hens who are permanent residents. Volunteers must be over 18 and have access to a car as public transport is unreliable. Volunteers normally work one shift a week or fortnight. Shifts start at 9am Monday-Sunday and last for a couple of hours.

Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical

YAHS is a charity established in 1863 to encourage the study of Yorkshire's past, both archaeological and historical. We run lectures and day schools and work closely with many other voluntary groups in the heritage sector across the historic county of Yorkshire. Our library and archive collections are now kept in the Brotherton Special Collections, University of Leeds. We publish the Yorkshire Archaeological Journal every year, and have a range of other publications, plus newsletters to our members. See our web site www.yas.org.uk.
