Fareshare Yorkshire require volunteer van drivers to deliver in-date surplus food to vital frontline organisations across West and North Yorkshire. FareShare Yorkshire intercepts 1,200 tonnes of unwanted quality food each year and redistributes it to 272 charities such as homeless shelters, soup kitchens, elderly lunch clubs and other organisations that care for people in need.

From our base in South Leeds, the role involves loading and delivering food parcels up to 150kg each so volunteers need to be reasonably fit to lift and load items. A full driving licence is required and we can accept drivers with up to 3 points on their licence. Full training and PPE is provided, our vans have sat-nav and travel expenses to and from our base are paid. We need a minimum commitmenent of 1 week day Monday-Friday from 8am-3pm and ideally require people who can commit to a minimum of several months volunteering or longer.

Volunteers are required to support our work on reception for Voluntary Action Leeds at our office in Hunslet, South Leeds. You will be involved in a variety of reception and admin related tasks, including meeting visitors, dealing with telephone calls and email enquiries, and assisting staff with various admin related tasks. Knowledge of basic Microsoft computer software including Word, Excel and Powerpoint is required. Experience in handling telephone calls is also desirable. Training and support will be provided and this is an ideal role for someone who would like to enhance their front of house skills, as this is very much a customer facing role. Volunteers are currently required Monday to Friday from 9.30am until 3pm, with a minimum commitment of 1 day per week. We provide travel and lunch expenses, and our offices are a Covid safe environment for all our volunteers and staff.

- Delivery Drivers – We require the support of licensed drivers with use of their own transportation, from 1.30 pm for 2-3 hours. We operate Monday – Thursday (days are subject to change).

- Shoppers – We require the support volunteers with their own licensed drivers with use of their own transportation, who can buy or collect food and deliver it to our food distribution centre by 10am. This will normally involve around 2 hours work. We will require volunteers to pay for the food prior to delivery and Touchstone will reimburse volunteers.

Volunteers will be compensated for expenses and provide any PPE needed.
