9th Roundhay Methodist Cubs There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout such as swimming, music, exploring, computing, and collecting. If you do them properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform. Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. Sometimes you will be able to go camping with the rest of your Pack. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities. For more information please contact Morris Smith. 9th Roundhay Methodist Scouts Roundhay Methodist Church has been sponsoring a scout group for 75 years with the aim of providing fun and friendship on a multi-faith and multi-cultural basis, albeit in a Christian setting, for young people and offers appropriate challenges and new experiences. The Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10 and 14 years. A young person can come in to the Troop at 10 and may stay until they are 15 years old. The Scout Troop is the third and final Section in the Scout Group. Being outdoors is important and half the Programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to yachting. Action for Children - Adoption and Permanency North Action for Children is a voluntary adoption agency, which seeks to recruit, train and assess prospective adopters from a wide variety of backgrounds. We recruit adopters for children of all ages whether they are single children, sibling groups or children with disabilities and medical difficulties. We are looking for people from a range of ethnicities particularly Black, Asian or mixed heritage backgrounds. Adopters can be single, in a partnership, LGBT or heterosexual, experienced parents or childless. A good understanding of the needs of children is vital. In return, Action for Children offers appropriate training and support.

There is no membership fee - voluntary contributions only. There are meetings in the Leeds area for women and men who have experienced problems with alcohol and want to stop drinking.

All Souls Church, Leeds An Urban Parish Church serving the local community with a specific interest in outreach to Christians whose first language is not English. There is a high level of lay participation in the leadership of worship which crosses age, gender, social, and ethnic boundaries. The congregation are noted for their warm welcome to new worshippers from all backgrounds. The building was the last one designed by the architect George Gilbert Scott before his death. It lends itself well to hosting concerts, and we are hoping to develop awareness in the local area of its architectural glories. The organ was built by Isaac Abbott, whose workshop was nearby on Blackman Lane. It was built as his 'display model' and, although needing the kind of re-build that we could never afford, it still sounds very well indeed. We also have an excellent organist. We reject all forms of discrimination and welcome everyone regardless of social or ethnic background or sexual orientation.

For 20 years we have run friendly, low-cost workshops/courses that can really make a difference. Whether you face difficult situations in the family, on the street, in your worksplace or somewhere else, AVP can help. In an AVP workshop you and the other participants will explore the conflicts and relationships within your own lives. The workshop will help you to understand and believe in yourself, communicate with others better and learn new skills to use in difficult situations.
Alwoodley Art Group This organisation has been operating for over 40 years and meets every Thursday evening to paint in whatever medium members wish. We are of all abilities and offer help to those who wish to improve their technique. We have two exhibitions a year, when all our members are encouraged to show their work, and sell if they wish. Our meetings regularly include demonstrations by professional artists, and workshops for members to encourage a bit of competition and have fun.

We seek to provide a centre for the residents of Alwoodley to come and relax and enjoy the many facilities available including a licensed bar and comfy lounge. There is a large screen TV and games tables in the Family Room. The Social Club organises a quiz competition throughout the winter months when Sections of the ACA submit teams to take part. They also arrange horse race evenings and bingo evenings.We have a Gala in June and the different Sections of the ACA organise social events, e.g. coffee mornings, jumble sales, etc., to raise funds not only to help maintain the premises and facilities but to nurture the social aspect of the community.

Dementia Cafes, Singing Groups and Carers' Support Groups. Also talks to raise awareness and increase knowledge of dementia in all parts of Leeds.
Amici Singers This is a community based choir of mixed voices who just want to make music together. We have members from all over North Leeds and some from further flung areas. There are no auditions and members do not have to read music. Some people are experienced singers but for many it is the first time they have sung in a choir. We have a mixed repertoire of part songs from early music, through spiritual and folk songs to songs from the shows and in a ligher vein. All our concerts are in aid of charities or other good causes and take plac in churches and hall around Leeds as well as on our annual holidays. We have low fees and there is an opportunity for new singers to try us out for no fee. The choir prides itself on its friendly atmosphere and its support for all its members.
